North South is easy, it is uphill and downhill, up north, down south. East West is more complicated, because I just think everything is opposite everything else, but it isn’t. It all tilts down to Liverpool (and Southport is up the coast).
THE MATERNAL LINE
The Albert Dock was where my mother drowned.
St. Helens Junction was where my grandmother received a telephone call saying the tumour was malignant.
Hull is where we bury them.
